Turkey is known officially as the Republic of Turkey, is a Eurasian country that stretches across the Anatolian peninsula in Western Asia and Thrace in the Balkan region of southeastern Europe is on the Mediterranean, in the Anatolian region of West Asia, with a small section in Southeastern Europe separated by the Turkish Straits. Turkey is a transcontinental Eurasian country. Asian Turkey, which includes 97% of the country, is separated from European Turkey by the Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles and European Turkey comprises 3% of the country. The territory of Turkey is more than 1,600 kilometres long and 800 km wide, with a roughly rectangular shape. Turkey offers a wealth of destination varieties to travelers including from dome-and-minaret filled skyline of Istanbul to Roman ruins along the western and southern coasts and there is something for everyone's taste—whether they be traveling on an extreme budget by hitchhiking or by a multi-million yacht.
